PDP accuses APC of allegedly sharing, squandering N2b palliatives in Kogi

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State of allegedly sharing and squandering N2b palliaviates meant for vulnerable citizens of Kogi State.

This is even as the Department of State Services, DSS, said on Tuesday that its operatives arrested some officials of the State Emergency Management Agency in the State for allegedly diverting palliatives meant for the citizens.

Media Talk Africa recalls that the federal government had a few weeks ago shared thousands of bags of rice, a staple food, across 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory in a bid to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal, particularly on the vulnerable citizens.

Shortly after the DSS report, PDP in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba said the ruling party was responsible for the alleged diversion of the palliatives.

PDP further demanded an apology from the APC over what it termed the “misfortunes” of the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello.

“It is unpardonable that after allegedly sharing from the N2b Kogi Palliative Fund, the APC leaders turned around to spit in the face of the people and danced on the graves of victims of APC’s vicious administration in the State in the past eight years.

“Our Party demands that the APC should apologize to the people of Kogi State for the misfortune that Yahaya Bello’s governance brought to the State and for presenting an individual such as Usman Ododo as a governorship candidate”, the statement added.

The Party also described the assertion by the APC that there was no vacancy in the government house as an illusory and pathetic display of fear of imminent defeat by the PDP in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
