CDS Musa urges CAN to promote peace, unity in Nigeria

Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, CDS, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has urged Christian leaders to always preach peace to their congregations for peace and unity to reign in the country.

He made this call on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Abuja.

According to him, the visit was aimed at building a mutual relationship between the military and the religious leaders in promoting unity, progress and development of the country.

Musa further appealed to the leadership of CAN to always pray for the military to succeed in its task of securing the territorial integrity of the country, especially at this critical time when the country is being bedevilled by the activities of bandits, insurgents, and other criminal elements disrupting peace and economic stability of the country.

The President of CAN, Arch Bishop Daniel Okor, while appreciating the CDS’s visit, said that CAN remains committed to supporting the Nigerian military in all ramifications towards securing the country’s territorial integrity.

The Bishop assured that the association would not relent in always coming up with suggestions to strengthen their relationship with the military and to foster peace, unity, and national cohesion among the ethnoreligious groups in Nigeria.

Media Talk Africa recalls that the CDS last week paid a similar visit to the Supreme Council of the Islamic Affairs of Nigeria at the Abuja Central Mosque, all aimed at fostering understanding, peace, unity and security in Nigeria.
