Enugu Assembly passes N58 billion supplementary budget

The Enugu State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, passed N58,095,482,293 supplementary budget submitted by the Governor, Peter Mbah.

Iloabuchi Aniagu, the Minority leader of the Assembly, speaking during the debate, said the supplementary budget would enable the new government to initiate and execute capital and developmental projects.

Enugu State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Ezenta Ezeani, said the N58 billion was a continuation of the 2023 budget and, as such, could not capture new projects being agitated for.

Ezeani noted that new projects would be captured in the 2024 budget, which would soon be presented by the governor, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Uche Ugwu, in his remark shortly after the passage of the budget, assured that โ€œno part of the State would be marginalised by the government as every part would benefit from the development projects of the new administration.โ€
