The Yobe State House of Assembly has successfully passed a bill that seeks to establish the Yobe Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA).
Following the adoption of the report by its standing committee on information, the House passed the bill into law.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the bill was passed, the chairman of the House Committee on Information, Sadiq Yahaya Attajiri, expressed his confidence that the newly established agency will contribute to the effective implementation of information technology systems in the state.
Attajiri further highlighted that the establishment of the YITDA will provide the government with the means to train more youths in modern computer skills and technologies, empowering them to be self-sufficient.
He also emphasized that the YITDA bill stipulates that the agency be led by a Director-General of high moral character, proven integrity, and no less than ten years of experience in the field of information technology.
Furthermore, the bill outlines a four-year tenure for the Director-General, Chairman, and board members, which will be eligible for renewal for a second term.
Attajiri commended the members of the House for their valuable contributions and dedication to the success of the bill at all levels.
