Banditry: Operation Safe Haven gets new Commander

Maj.-Gen.  Abdulsalami Ibrahim on Friday assumed office as the new Commander of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, OPSH.

Mr Ibrahim replaced Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali who was deployed as Theatre Commander, North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK.

The OPSH is a special military task force saddled with the responsibility of maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Kaduna and Bauchi states.

The new commander pledged to sustain and build on the successes recorded by his predecessor.

He also promised to use both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in tackling insecurity in the OPSH areas of operation.

Mr Ibrahim called on officers and men of the special military task force to be professional and committed to the actualisation of the mandate of ensuring peace in their area of responsibility.

He called on residents to support and cooperate with the military and other security agencies towards ensuring a peaceful environment for all.

Earlier, Mr Ali, the former commander, thanked officers and men of the operation for the support accorded him and urged them to extend the same to his successor.

Mr Ibrahim will also serve as the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos.
