Stakeholder seeks collaboration on Youth development

By Ene Audu, Abuja

A Stakeholder in the youth sector has called for collaboration with the Nigerian Ministry of Youth in a bid to boost youth development in the country.

This collaboration is seen as crucial to harnessing the potential as well as effectively engaging and mobilising youths across the country in order to be more useful to society.

United Nations Habitat Ambassador to Nigeria who is also the Secretary General of the Nigerian Youth Congress, Dr. Raymond Edoh, stated this in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to him, “a close collaboration between youth Activists and the ministry would enable a comprehensive understanding of the critical issues affecting the younger generation.”

He is also calling for the introduction of policies and programmes that directly align with the needs and aspirations of the youth.

Such collaboration he said would ensure increased engagement and participation from the youth in nation-building.

“This will further bridge the gap between the government and the young generation, ensuring that youth concerns and perspectives are aptly represented in policy decisions and implementation strategies,” he added.

Dr. Edoh said his extensive experience in working with Nigerian youth has endowed him with insights into the needs of the younger generation.

He said fostering a strong working relationship with the Ministry of Youth will help Nigeria gain a deeper understanding of effective approaches and strategies for youth development.
