The Niger State Government has swiftly responded to baseless rumours that have been circulating regarding an alleged incident at the Government House in Minna. It was erroneously claimed that someone’s genitals had gone missing.
In a statement issued by Bologi Ibrahim, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the government unequivocally dismissed the rumours, stating that they were completely baseless and devoid of any factual basis.
Expressing appreciation for the important role of the media in reporting news, the government emphasized the need for responsible journalism and urged journalists to refrain from spreading unverified rumours that could incite panic and anxiety among the public.
The governor’s media aide reassured the public that the security measures at the Government House in Minna remain robust and efficient. He stated, “Our security operatives are constantly diligent in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone within the premises and the entire state.”
Furthermore, he appealed to the public to rely on credible sources of information and to refrain from sharing or spreading unverified rumours.
“We call on the residents of the state to disregard these unfounded rumours and continue with their lawful activities,” added the statement.
