Niger State Government calls for responsible, credible reportage

Niger State Government in North Central Nigeria has emphasized the crucial role of the media in responsible and credible news reporting.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, it called on journalists to refrain from disseminating unverified rumors that could incite panic and anxiety among the public.

The state government further denied the unfounded rumor surrounding an alleged incident at the Government House, where it was falsely claimed that someone’s genitals had gone missing.

The statement clarified that “this rumor is entirely without merit and lacks any factual basis.”

Furthermore, the statement reassures the public that the security measures at the Government House Minna remains robust and effective, with security personnel prioritizing the safety and well-being of all individuals within the premises and across the state.

“Both the media and the public are encouraged to seek information from credible sources and avoid spreading unverified claims.” 

 “Residents of the state are also urged to disregard the rumor and continue with their lawful activities without apprehension,” the statement concluded.
