A United States Senator, Marco Rubio, has called on the Biden administration to revoke the visas of foreign nationals who openly support Hamas and to promptly deport them back to their home countries. This statement was made by Rubio, a third-term senator from Florida, on his official social media handle on Saturday.
Rubio’s plea comes amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Recent protests in the United States saw some foreign nationals voicing their support for Hamas, prompting Rubio to express his concerns.
In his statement, Senator Rubio emphasized the need for President Biden’s government to adhere to established legal processes when dealing with foreign nationals who endorse Hamas. He stressed the importance of cancelling their visas and ensuring their immediate deportation.
“I have urged the Biden Administration to enforce our existing laws by revoking the visas and taking immediate steps to deport foreign nationals who openly align themselves with Hamas,” Rubio tweeted.
The senator further added, “Any foreign national who takes to our streets, calling for ‘intifada’ or celebrating the killing of innocent Israeli children, must be removed.”
The Israel-Hamas conflict has resulted in a devastating loss of lives, with the death toll of both Palestinians and Israelis surpassing 2,500 as a result of attacks and retaliatory strikes from both sides, as reported by Media Talk Africa.
