Super Eagles Squad Confident of Victory Against Mozambique Despite Absences

The Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a victory against the Mambas of Mozambique, even in the absence of star players Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Both Osimhen and Iheanacho will be unavailable for Monday’s friendly match at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that Osimhen sustained a hamstring injury during the Super Eagles’ 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia on Friday, while Iheanacho was released from the camp due to personal reasons.

However, Coach Peseiro assured that the team has capable replacements to fill the void created by the absence of the two players.

“Although we will miss Kelechi and Victor, we have other talented players who can make Nigeria proud. I have full faith in the bench, which is filled with individuals who are ready to step up and seize their opportunities,” Peseiro stated in an interview with thenff.com.

Monday’s match will mark the fifth encounter between Nigeria and Mozambique at the senior level.
