Suspected terrorists have attacked Kuta town in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and the abduction of another three. During the assault, the local government chairman, Akilu Kuta, narrowly escaped being kidnapped as the terrorists invaded several communities surrounding Kuta town. This attack occurred just 24 hours after the killing of the councillor for Allawa ward in the Shiroro LGA, as reported by The Nation.

The council chairman was traveling to Minna via the Egwa-Kuta road with Suleiman Galkogo, the Niger State All Progressives Congress assistant youth leader, when they came under fire. Their vehicle sustained damage from gunfire, but they managed to evade capture. Among those abducted in the attack were a woman and her daughter-in-law from the Bmanape community. Additionally, the terrorists reportedly rustled several cattle and blocked the highway at Egwa village, prompting motorists to turn back in haste upon sighting them.

In response to the incident, the Shiroro local government chairman has imposed a curfew from 7 PM to 7 AM in Gwada and its surrounding areas to enhance security and prevent further attacks.
