Man arrested with 29 PVCs in Kano remanded in prison custody

A magistrate’s court in Kano has remanded Tasiu Abdullahi in prison custody pending a ruling on his bail application.

Mr Abdullahi, 45, was recently arrested by the police in possession of 29 Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, belonging to members of a community in Dawakintofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The prosecuting counsel, Hadiya Ahmad, said the accused committed an offense contrary to Section 22 of the Electoral Act 2022.

Mr Abdullahi however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His lawyer, MB Baba, therefore moved an application for his bail, but the prosecutor objected to the application.

Chief Magistrate Mustapha Saad-Datti then adjourned the case till January 30 for ruling on the bail application and ordered the remand of the accused person in correctional facility.
