Former EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Released by SSS

The State Security Service, commonly known as the SSS, has officially announced the release of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa. This news comes after Dr. Peter Afunanya, the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications of the DSS, confirmed the release in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.

According to Dr. Afunanya, Bawa was set free on Wednesday evening, although no specific details about the terms of his release have been provided. “DSS confirms the release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago, today, Oct. 25,” Dr. Afunanya stated.

It is worth noting that Bawa had been in detention with the SSS since June 14, following his suspension by the Federal Government. The circumstances leading to his detention and subsequent release have not yet been disclosed.

It is a situation that has attracted immense attention, as Bawa’s tenure as the EFCC chairman was marked by tremendous efforts in the fight against corruption. As he assumes his freedom, the Nigerian public eagerly awaits any forthcoming developments surrounding this high-profile case.
