Nigerian Troops Apprehend 34 Suspected Gunrunners, Kidnappers, and Cattle Rustlers in Plateau and Kaduna

Troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a specialized military task force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna States, have successfully captured 34 individuals involved in various criminal activities, including gunrunning, kidnappings, and cattle rustling.

In a statement released by Captain James Oya, the media officer of the operation, the suspects were apprehended during separate operations conducted within the task force’s jurisdiction.

The operations took place between October 22 and October 29.

“During this period,” explained Captain Oya, “a total of 34 suspects were arrested. Among them were seven individuals suspected of being involved in kidnappings, four suspected gunrunners, and three individuals connected to attacks on local villages. Additionally, three suspects were apprehended for cattle rustling, two for illicit drug peddling, and four others for perpetrating attacks on vulnerable communities.”

Captain Oya also highlighted the successful rescue of three kidnap victims and the immediate response to 36 distress calls.

Upon the conclusion of investigations, the arrested individuals will be charged to court.

Major General Abdusalam Abubakar, the commander of OPSH, has called upon the residents of the affected areas to collaborate with the task force in its efforts to address the prevailing security challenges. He reassured the public of OPSH’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of lives and property at all times.

These recent accomplishments by Nigerian troops demonstrate their relentless dedication to preserving law and order within the country, safeguarding communities, and upholding justice against threats posed by criminal elements.
