EFCC Frees 58 Obafemi Awolowo University Students

Several students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, who were apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have been released. This development comes on the heels of a protest staged by the students at the EFCC office in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The EFCC operatives had detained over 70 students in Ile-Ife, Osun State, during a raid on Tuesday. The operation specifically targeted two off-campus hostels, Fine Touch and Superb, in Oduduwa Estate, Ile-Ife, carried out around 2 a.m.

However, Abiola Awoyeye, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Ife Central State Constituency, divulged that 58 of the arrested students have since been released. He further revealed that negotiations are ongoing for the release of the remaining 11 students.

Showing appreciation, Awoyeye expressed gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Attorney General, Barr Wole Bada, for their unwavering support in securing the freedom of the released students.
