Former Senate President Ken Nnamani is at the center of a disciplinary review initiated by the Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). On Wednesday, the party established a five-member committee tasked with investigating allegations of anti-party activities against Nnamani and two other party members. The committee, led by State Assistant Legal Adviser Vincent Chieyina, will invite Nnamani, along with former Commissioner Ozor Mmamel and Mr. Nelson Arum, to respond to the charges brought against them.

Dr. Robert Ngwu, the state secretary of the APC, presented the resolution from the state executive committee following their meeting at the party’s zonal office in Enugu. He emphasized that the party would not hesitate to expel or suspend Nnamani, Mmamel, and Arum if they are found guilty of the allegations. Ngwu stated, “The party is fully aware of the nefarious activities of the previous administration of the party in the 2015 and 2019 general elections.” He further explained that the party had reviewed various petitions and reports from fact-finding committees concerning Nnamani, Mmamel, and Arum, which detailed accusations of anti-party activities and violations of the APC Constitution and the Electoral Act of 2022.

Specifically, Nnamani is accused of openly campaigning for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party during a rally at the Michael Okpara Square in Enugu on January 20, 2023. At this rally, Nnamani was represented by Ben Nwoye, an expelled former Chairman of the Enugu State APC, who has been actively working against the APC candidate, Chief Uche Nnaji. Additionally, Mr. Maduka Arum, also known as Mama, is identified as a close associate and leader of Nnamani’s political group.

When the state Chairman, Ugochukwu Agballah, presented the SEC’s resolution for a voice vote, it was overwhelmingly approved with no dissenting voices. Agballah instructed the disciplinary committee to adhere to the principles of natural justice, ensuring that the accused individuals receive a fair hearing throughout the investigation process.
