NASS Leadership Provides Transport Solution for Workers Amid Fuel Subsidy Removal

In a bid to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the staff, the National Assembly has taken a significant step by launching eight new coaster buses in Abuja for the transportation of parliamentary workers. The provision of these buses is part of the measures aimed at cushioning the effects of the subsidy removal.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Magaji Tambawal, initiated the provision of the buses as part of palliative measures to ease the transportation challenges faced by the parliamentary staff. In addition to this, the implementation of the new N35,000 wage award for National Assembly staff has also commenced to further ameliorate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

At the launch and handover of the vehicles to the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, emphasized that this gesture demonstrates the 10th National Assembly’s commitment, under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to address the welfare of the staff. He highlighted the swift approval given by the Senate President in response to the request for the provision of the buses, showcasing his unwavering commitment to staff welfare.
