At the closing ceremony of a two-week combat training and seminar for heads of Police Mobile Force Squadrons and formations, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, emphasized the importance of professionalism among officers. The event took place at the Police Mobile Force Training College in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, on Monday, January 23. During this ceremony, the IG tasked Police Mobile Force Commanders with the responsibility of teaching their personnel to be professional, firm, and decisive while deployed for the security management of the 2023 general elections.

Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the PMF, Ali Janga, the IG highlighted the necessity for officers to remain apolitical and to conduct themselves with humility and humanity. He urged them to avoid corruption and any form of illegality. The IG also expressed gratitude to the host Commandant of the PMF Training College, ACP Wilson Dankwano, as well as the PNF staff officers and other resource persons, for providing a valuable training experience. This program allowed participants to enhance their knowledge through experience sharing and contemporary instruction.

Furthermore, Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted that the IG assured the public that the police, as the lead agency responsible for election security management in the country, are committed to ensuring their officers are well-prepared. The goal is to facilitate a secure and peaceful electoral process, ultimately delivering free, fair, credible, and acceptable elections to Nigerians in 2023.
