The immediate past Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, has expressed the readiness of the state’s residents to support the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming general election. Ajayi characterized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “dead” political party that no longer has anything beneficial to offer the country. He emphasized that only the PDP has the potential to bring about positive change in Nigeria. This statement was made during the flag-off of the PDP campaign for the Ondo South Senatorial District, held in Okitipupa town within the Okitipupa Local Government Area.
As the senatorial candidate for the PDP in the Ondo South Senatorial District, Ajayi criticized the APC government for its failures and underscored the necessity of voting them out in the forthcoming elections. Addressing a large crowd of party supporters at the rally, he remarked, “Our people are tired of the APC government, and we are not concerned about the issue of vote buying because it won’t work at all in Ondo South Senatorial District. Our people are resolute and ready to vote out the APC.” He further asserted that the people of Ondo South are committed to voting for all PDP candidates in the elections, emphasizing their integrity and rights.
Ajayi acknowledged the primary challenge facing the Senatorial District: electricity. He assured the audience that if they vote for the PDP, significant improvements could be made within six months. He recalled his role in bringing the 132 KVA substation to Okitipupa during his tenure as deputy governor, noting that progress had stalled since they left office. He promised the people of Ondo South that the PDP would complete the necessary work to restore electricity and represent their interests effectively in Abuja. He urged the electorate to vote en masse for the PDP in the general elections scheduled for February 25, 2023.
During the rally, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, a former PDP National Vice Chairman for the South-West, echoed Ajayi’s sentiments, stating that the party is united and prepared to approach the election with a unified voice. He described the PDP as a single, indivisible family, determined to win the election after what he termed a tragic seven and a half years under the APC government. Olafeso asserted that the Ondo South Senatorial District has a strong historical affiliation with the PDP and expressed confidence that this election would mark the beginning of victory for the party in Ondo South, Ondo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
