Enugu State Police Commissioner Launches Probe into Alleged Misconduct by Police Operatives

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has taken swift action by ordering an investigation into the alleged unprofessional conduct of police operatives in the Nsukka area of the state.

In a statement released on Sunday in Enugu by the police spokesman in the state, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Commissioner Uzuegbu emphasized, “I have directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Enugu, to promptly investigate the allegations so as to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions. Victims of the alleged misconduct are encouraged to come forward with relevant information to assist in the investigation.”

The decision to launch the investigation follows the recent circulation of social media reports highlighting unprofessional behavior by some police officers in Nsukka town. The Commissioner urged residents to remain calm while assuring them of his commitment to upholding ethical standards within the force and safeguarding the rights of citizens in accordance with the law.

Furthermore, Commissioner Uzuegbu implored the public to cooperate with the police in their effort to reform the force by maintaining law-abiding conduct and promptly reporting any instances of police misconduct, emphasizing the necessity of taking appropriate disciplinary measures.

Residents were also encouraged to report acts of police misconduct by contacting the authorities through the dedicated telephone number: 08099854883 or via email at infoenugupolice@gmail.com.

This proactive approach by the Enugu State Police Commissioner demonstrates a dedication to transparency, accountability, and the continual improvement of the police force, ensuring that the rights and dignity of all citizens are upheld.
