The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed deep concern regarding the current health condition of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The pro-Biafran group highlighted that despite Kanu’s deteriorating health, he remains in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). This situation persists even though the Court of Appeal has discharged and acquitted him of all charges brought against him by the Federal Government, which the group describes as unfounded.

In a statement released on Saturday, Chika Edoziem, the Head of the Directorate of State, accused the DSS of following a script orchestrated by the Federal Government in collaboration with certain politicians of Igbo descent. The statement warns the international community that the DSS has allegedly intensified its torture of Kanu, who is being held illegally despite a court order for his immediate and unconditional release. The group claims to have credible information indicating that the DSS, under the direction of the Federal Government and in concert with specific Igbo politicians, has discussed plans to eliminate Kanu, including a suggestion that he should be poisoned to ensure a slow death.
