Ogun State Governor Vows to Tackle Collusion of Monarchs in Illegal Land Deals

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, expressed outrage on Monday as he pledged to take decisive action against certain traditional rulers in the state. These rulers were allegedly collaborating with external individuals to deceitfully acquire government land for the illicit cultivation of Indian hemp.

Speaking passionately during the Statutory Meeting of the State Council of Obas at the Oba’s Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun highlighted that these implicated monarchs and their associates are involved in the wanton deforestation of state forest reserves and plantations.

“Our traditional rulers are partaking in alliances with non-indigenes of Ogun State, swiftly ceding our land to them within our plantations,” the governor exclaimed. “They are encroaching upon these lands, recklessly clearing them and engaging in the cultivation of Indian hemp. The news of this grievous misconduct left me utterly dismayed, and upon verification, it was regrettably confirmed to be true.”

Furthermore, Governor Abiodun adamantly asserted, “As a responsible state government, we will not hesitate to take disciplinary measures against any individual found complicit in such actions, regardless of their status, be it a traditional ruler or any other person.”

The governor also disclosed his administration’s endeavor to attract more investors to the state, divulging plans to finalize an agreement with a private investor for the establishment of a dry port at Kajola.

Meticulously addressing the traditional rulers, Governor Abiodun reiterated his commitment to the preservation of Ogun State’s resources and the enforcement of accountability among its leaders. His unyielding stance underscores his dedication to upholding the integrity and prosperity of the state, safeguarding it against illicit activities while fostering legitimate avenues for economic growth.

This bold proclamation by Governor Dapo Abiodun signifies a resolute stand against malfeasance and affirms his unwavering devotion to the welfare and progress of Ogun State.
