The family of renowned Nigerian actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has stepped forward to dispel rumors of a double leg amputation, providing clarity on the entertainer’s health status amid recent concerns.
Reports had surfaced claiming that the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Dr. Emeka Rollas, revealed that Mr. Ibu had undergone a second leg amputation and was struggling to communicate.
In response, the actor’s family took to his Instagram page to set the record straight, affirming that the additional amputation was performed on the same leg as the initial procedure. They explained that the first amputation had not fully resolved his health issues. Furthermore, the family emphasized that Mr. Ibu does not have diabetes, but rather has been grappling with persistent blood clotting in his leg, along with other serious health challenges necessitating the need for the subsequent amputation.
Addressing speculations about seeking medical treatment abroad, the family clarified that his condition has rendered him unfit for air travel, and thus, he has not been relocated for advanced medical care.
Despite the adversities, the family expressed optimism about Mr. Ibu’s recovery and called for support from his friends, colleagues, fans, and the wider Nigerian community. They urged everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information about his health, underscoring the importance of keeping him in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
