Oluremi Tinubu’s Remarkable Gesture: N100,000 Each for 250 Elderly Persons in Nasarawa

In a heartwarming display of compassion, Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, has extended a generous hand to 250 elderly individuals in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Through the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme, each beneficiary received N100,000 in a move aimed at easing their financial burdens.

The distribution event, held in Lafia, witnessed Mrs. Tinubu’s representative, Shela Tosan-Akabe, the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, emphasizing the initiative’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of the elderly. Notably, this significant support is part of a larger scheme covering elderly citizens aged 65 and above across all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Expressing optimism, the First Lady highlighted the intended impact of the financial aid, particularly in light of the current economic conditions and the festive season. With N250 million approved by the Governing Board of the Renewed Hope Initiative, each state, including the FCT, is set to receive funds for onward disbursement to deserving beneficiaries.

Silifat Sule, the wife of Nasarawa’s governor, lauded Mrs. Tinubu for her unique and considerate gesture, emphasizing the often overlooked status of the elderly in society. Mrs. Sule detailed the careful selection process, covering beneficiaries from all 13 local government areas in the state, and urged recipients to utilize the funds judiciously for their well-being and that of their families.

Aisha Rufai, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, added her commendation for the First Lady’s support, assuring that measures were in place to guarantee direct disbursement of funds to the beneficiaries, thus preventing intermediary involvement.

In response, Mariam Rabiu, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed profound gratitude to Mrs. Tinubu, conveying prayers for her and her husband’s administration. This noble act undoubtedly leaves an indelible mark, resonating with the essence of empathy and solidarity within the community, embodying the spirit of compassion and hope.
