Nigeria’s Stanley Nwabili Targeted by Belgian Club, Union St Gilloise

Reports have surfaced linking Nigeria’s talented goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabili, with a potential move to the Belgian Pro League team, Union St Gilloise. Nwabili, who currently plays for Chippa United, has been showcasing impressive performances in the South African top-flight league, drawing attention from international clubs.

The 27-year-old shot stopper’s skills have not gone unnoticed, as Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, recently made a trip to South Africa to personally engage with Nwabili. He has also earned a spot in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, further solidifying his status as a standout player.

The speculated move comes as Union St Gilloise seeks to secure Nwabili’s services to fill the void left by Maxime Wensenns, who is reportedly eyeing a transfer to Turkey. Nwabili’s transition to Chippa United from Nigeria’s Lobi Stars just last year has evidently been a stepping stone towards the radar of European football clubs.
