At approximately 4:40 AM on Saturday, officers from the Federal Capital Territory Police Command successfully thwarted an armed robbery in the Kabusa area of Abuja, resulting in the death of one suspected robber. This swift police intervention was prompted by a distress call received by the Kabusa Police Division regarding an armed robbery incident in the ECWA 2 community of Kabusa Village.
According to Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, several items were recovered from the scene, including a Beretta pistol, one round of 9mm live ammunition, two axes, a mobile phone, and a silver whistle. Upon receiving the report, police officers quickly mobilized to the location, collaborating with local residents. When the robbers spotted the police team, they opened fire, leading to a gunfight. The police’s superior firepower resulted in the neutralization of one armed robber, while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds. Authorities are currently working to apprehend the escaped suspects.
Additionally, two residents who were injured during the robbery were promptly taken to the hospital, where they received treatment and were later discharged. The robber who was neutralized was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
