The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its crackdown on drug-related crimes in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The state command of the NDLEA reported the arrest of 103 individuals involved in drug trafficking, dealing, and usage. In a significant operation conducted in December, a staggering 1,458.709 kilograms of illicit drugs, including cocaine, heroin, Cannabis, Tramadol, and Methamphetamine, were confiscated.
Samaila Danmallam, the NDLEA Commander in Kaduna, disclosed that 26 illicit drug joints were dismantled as part of the operation. Additionally, the command achieved six convictions and arraigned 24 suspects during the same period.
Danmallam emphasized that these arrests and seizures were vital components of the command’s strategy to combat the drug menace in the state. Notably, the NDLEA conducted extensive awareness programs throughout Kaduna, aiming to educate the public about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The commander underscored that the fight against illicit drugs necessitates a collective effort and urged the public to provide timely and actionable information to aid in the agency’s operations.
