Heartland FC Sees Manager Kennedy Boboye Off with Emotional Victory

Kennedy Boboye bid an emotional farewell to Heartland FC after confirming his departure following a poignant 3-1 win against Remo Stars. The departing manager took the reins of the five-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions last month, succeeding Christian Obi. The Naze Millionaires were struggling, with a nine-game winless streak, before Boboye assumed the role of head coach.

During his brief tenure, Heartland secured three wins, one draw, and three defeats under Boboye’s guidance. However, his departure was not of his own accord. Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has mandated Boboye to step aside and reinstated Obi as the head coach.

Boboye’s tearful farewell after the victory against Remo Stars emphasized his deep connection with the fans of Imo State. He dedicated the win to the passionate supporters, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout his managerial career. Despite his imminent departure, Boboye expressed gratitude to the fans and highlighted the special place Imo State held in his heart.

In a heartfelt statement to reporters, Boboye conveyed his appreciation, saying, “This victory is for the fans. Imo state is where I have gotten the most support in my managerial career. I wonโ€™t be here for the next game. I wish them well, this is a place where the people had me at heart.”

The news of his departure was delivered by the esteemed Governor, compelling Boboye to relinquish his managerial duties. Boboye, a seasoned coach who has previously clinched the NPFL title with Plateau United and Akwa United, expressed his gratitude and urged the players to extend the same level of support to Obi, their reinstated former coach.

Heartland FC currently stands at the 17th position on the NPFL table, amassing 16 points from 16 games. As Boboye bids his farewell, the team faces a period of transition and adjustment under the reinstated coach, Christian Obi.
