Bola Tinubu Joins Friday Prayers in Lagos Central Mosque

Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, actively participated in the Jummah prayers at the Lagos Central Mosque on Friday, alongside prominent government officials. The Chief Imam, Sheikh Suleiman Abu Na’Allah, delivered a compelling sermon emphasizing kindness, impartiality, and the importance of law and order.

During the prayers, Alhaji Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy, Bashorun Musulumi of Lagos, urged President Tinubu to intervene in a longstanding conflict concerning the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground, appealing for unrestricted access for the Jama’atul Muslimeen Council of the Lagos Central Mosque.

The issue dates back to former President Muhammadu Buhari’s establishment of a Special Committee, led by Professor Ibrahim Gambari, which concluded that the prayer ground legally belongs to the Jama’atul Muslimeen Council. Former President Buhari had issued directives to end the desecration of the prayer ground and remove all containers and debris.

Recognizing Tinubu’s past efforts in addressing the matter, Alabi-Macfoy appealed for the President’s intervention to ensure full access to the prayer ground for the Jama’atul Muslimeen Council.

The Friday prayers provided a platform for both spiritual reflection and addressing pertinent socio-religious issues faced by the Muslim community in Lagos. Tinubu’s presence underscores his engagement with the community and the significance of religious harmony in the region.
