Magnus Abe Makes a Political Move: Returns to APC from SDP

Former Senator Magnus Abe from Rivers South-East senatorial district has made a significant decision to reunite with his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a public declaration, Senator Abe expressed his intent to align himself with the developmental plans of President Bola Tinubu, signaling a shift in his political allegiance.

After contesting as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general elections, Senator Abe conveyed his decision to return to the APC during a stakeholder meeting in Port Harcourt. He emphasized that his move is aimed at supporting President Tinubu’s agenda and ensuring that the people of Rivers are actively involved in the country’s development.

During the meeting, Abe stressed the need for peace and unity within the party, emphasizing that every member, regardless of their position, should work towards the advancement of the party. He also acknowledged the involvement of Mr. Tony Okocha, a member of his previous team, in the party’s Caretaker Committee.

Abe clarified that his decision to rejoin the APC was not centered on individuals but on aligning with the party’s founding members and grassroots supporters of President Tinubu. He emphasized the importance of an open-minded approach and expressed readiness to collaborate with all members of the party for its progress.

Abe’s return to the APC marks a significant political maneuver, reflecting the dynamic landscape of Nigerian politics and the shifting alliances within the country’s political sphere. This move has the potential to influence the political dynamics within the APC and the broader Nigerian political landscape, signifying the recalibration of political forces as the country heads towards the next election cycle.
