Rivers State Governor Calls for Unity: “Let Peace Prevail,” Urges Factions to Unite

In a heartfelt plea for harmony, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has beseeched all conflicting parties in the region to join forces and embrace peace. Fubara emphasized that the absence of peace would sow seeds of division, highlighting the crucial necessity of unity.

Against the backdrop of growing tension between himself and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, Fubara’s call for unity carries significant weight. Speaking at the Ogoni Day celebration in Bori Town, Khana Council, the governor, represented by his deputy, Ngozi Odu, underscored the urgency of fostering peace in the state.

Fubara expressed, “I, therefore, want to plead with everyone to put our hands together and allow peace to prevail across the state because without peace, there will be unnecessary division. We don’t need that now.”

He further articulated the administration’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing development across all councils in the senatorial district, where Ogoni holds significant prominence. Addressing critical areas such as electricity and security in Ogoni land, Fubara reaffirmed the government’s steadfast dedication to advancing these fundamental priorities.

As the delicate fabric of peace hangs in the balance, Fubara’s impassioned appeal resonates as a clarion call for unity and shared resolve in the face of discord.
