Nigeria’s Super Eagles Confident of AFCON 2023 Victory, Says Captain Ahmed Musa

In the buildup to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, stand firm in their determination to clinch the championship title, as echoed by their captain, Ahmed Musa.

With three previous championship victories under their belt, the Super Eagles enter the upcoming biennial competition as strong contenders for the title. Musa, a pivotal member of the squad that secured the AFCON trophy in 2013, exudes confidence in the team’s ability to emerge triumphant once again, this time in Cote d’Ivoire.

“We have the quality to win it. If you see the players in the 25-man squad, you can’t say we are not going to win. You know in football anything can happen, but we have the mindset to win it. The coach has already said his target is to win the AFCON and by God’s grace, we are going to win it,” affirmed Musa.

As they prepare for the tournament, Nigeria finds itself placed in Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. The Super Eagles will kick off their campaign against Equatorial Guinea’s Nzalang Nacional on Sunday, January 14.

The stage is set for an exhilarating showcase of African football prowess, with the Super Eagles poised to soar to new heights and stake their claim for AFCON 2023 glory.
