Super Eagles Coach Confirms Iheanacho’s Readiness for AFCON Participation

In a recent interview in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro, emphatically stated that Kelechi Iheanacho is now fully prepared to participate in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

Peseiro assured reporters that Iheanacho has successfully completed his treatment at Leicester City and will be joining the Super Eagles squad for the AFCON after overcoming a muscular injury.

The Leicester City striker, who had been sidelined due to injury, opted to stay at his club to fully recuperate for the tournament, which is set to commence on Saturday in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles, three-time champions, are slated to depart for Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday to compete in the 34th AFCON finals. Prior to their departure, they will be attending a special dinner hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos. The much-anticipated tournament is scheduled to begin on Feb. 11, with the Super Eagles expected to commence their campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
