Plateau State Governor’s Victory a Triumph for Democracy, says Former Governor Jonah Jang

Former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, hails Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s triumph as a victory for democracy, in the face of opposition from anti-democratic factions. The Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Mutfwang’s election stands as a testament to the people’s will prevailing over manipulative endeavors.

Reflecting on the Judiciary’s pivotal role, Jang expressed gratitude for upholding the Rule of Law, reinforcing the belief that the judiciary indeed represents the common man’s last refuge. He further lauded the people of Plateau for their unwavering vigilance and vocal condemnation of injustice, emphasizing their pivotal role in rectifying the miscarriage of justice.

Jang, through his Media Consultant Clinton Garuba, extended appreciation to the media for amplifying the populace’s voice against manipulation and injustice. Moreover, he singled out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for refraining from intervening in the judicial process despite immense pressure from the anti-democratic forces. Jang underscored the President’s concern for Plateau State and urged for continued efforts in addressing the genocidal threats looming over the region.

Nevertheless, Jang expressed dismay over the repercussions of the Court of Appeal’s adverse ruling, which deprived the people of their rightful representation in the state and National Assembly. He disclosed that efforts were underway to petition the National Judicial Council to review the said judgments, emphasizing the imperative need to restore the people’s mandate and reinstate their elected representatives.

In light of the Supreme Court’s decision, Jang urged the people of Plateau to stand united and resolute, assuring them that victory would ultimately be theirs. He also commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s commitment to upholding the dignity of Plateau and fostering development across the state, while expressing hope for the continuation of such efforts.

Jang’s resounding call for unity and restoration of democratic representation underscores the resilience and determination of the people of Plateau State in safeguarding their democratic rights and charting a prosperous future for their beloved region.
