Presidency Addresses Potential Cabinet Reshuffle Amid Ministerial Scandal

The Presidency has broken its silence on the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle in the aftermath of a scandal involving the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu. President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has affirmed that the President will not hesitate to reorganize his cabinet if deemed necessary.

In response to the ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ngelale emphasized that Tinubu has privately cautioned all ministers against engaging in any form of fraudulent activities. He stated that the President has explicitly communicated his intolerance for indiscipline, corruption, dereliction of duty, or incompetence within his administration.

During an appearance on TVC Politics Today, Ngelale underscored Tinubu’s commitment to thorough investigations, asserting that the President will take appropriate action based on the findings. Ngelale stressed that any speculation about a potential cabinet reshuffle should not preempt the President’s decisions, as Tinubu will only consider such a move after obtaining a clear understanding of the investigation’s outcomes.

Ngelale acknowledged the natural inclination to speculate about cabinet changes, urging restraint and emphasizing the President’s awareness of his administration’s activities. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of allowing the President to make informed decisions based on the investigation’s results.

The statement from the Presidency provides insights into Tinubu’s decisive stance on maintaining integrity within the government and signals his unwavering commitment to upholding accountability at the highest levels of leadership.
