The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, unveiled its weather forecast for the upcoming three days, painting a picture of sunny and hazy conditions from Sunday through Tuesday throughout the nation. Released from its headquarters in Abuja, the outlook serves as a crucial guide for individuals, aviation operators, and disaster risk managers.

According to NiMet, the northern and North Central states are expected to experience a sunny and hazy atmosphere, accompanied by a moderate dust haze with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km. In the inland states, early morning mist or fog is on the horizon, while patches of clouds are anticipated during the afternoon and evening hours in the coastal states within the hazy atmosphere.

As Monday unfolds, similar conditions are projected, with sunny and hazy weather persisting in the northern, North Central, and inland states. The coastal states are likely to encounter early morning mist and fog, followed by patches of clouds against a hazy backdrop as the day progresses. NiMet also foresees slight dust haze hovering over the northern states on Tuesday, alongside sunny and hazy conditions in the North Central and inland states, with coastal areas experiencing patches of clouds within the hazy atmosphere.

With the suspension of dust particles in the air, NiMet urged the public to take necessary precautions, especially individuals with asthma and other respiratory issues. As a precautionary measure, airline operators were advised to stay informed about NiMet’s weather reports for efficient planning of their operations. Furthermore, NiMet emphasized the need for proactive measures by disaster risk managers, agencies, and individuals to mitigate the potential risks and safeguard lives and property.

As weather patterns continue to evolve, NiMet’s comprehensive forecast not only serves as a navigational tool for the populace but also underscores the critical role of proactive measures in averting potential risks associated with the unfolding weather conditions.
