As the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations unfolds, Nigeria’s team captain, William Troost-Ekong, has lauded the Super Eagles’ attacking prowess, labeling it as the most thrilling in the continent.
In preparation for Nigeria’s crucial final group stage showdown against Guinea-Bissau, Troost-Ekong emphasized the strength of their offensive lineup, despite the team only managing to score two goals in their initial two matches.
The captain highlighted Victor Osimhen’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea and his own penalty kick as the deciding factor in securing a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast.
Expressing his confidence in the current squad, Troost-Ekong expressed, “If I look at the players we have now, I think it might be the best team I have played in for Nigeria. That is with all due respect to some of the legends that have been there,” in an interview with BBC Africa.
He went on to characterize Nigeria’s striking force as the “most exciting attack in Africa,” underscoring the team’s potential to make a significant impact in the tournament.
