Nigeria Victorious in AFCON Group Stage, Awaits Round of 16 Opponent

Nigeria has emerged triumphant in the group stages of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, securing a 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau with Opa Sangante’s own goal proving decisive for the Super Eagles. Despite this win, Jose Peseiro’s men finished as runners-up behind Equatorial Guinea, who delivered a stunning 4-0 victory against hosts Ivory Coast.

As a result, Nigeria is set to face the second-placed team from Group C in the upcoming Round of 16 clash. Group C is currently headed by Senegal with six points, followed by Guinea with four points. Cameroon holds one point, while Gambia has suffered defeat in all their fixtures so far. The qualification outcome will be determined as Senegal plays Guinea and Cameroon takes on Gambia in the remaining two group stage games.

The Super Eagles’ Round of 16 fixture is scheduled for Saturday, January 27th at 9pm WAT. Nigeria’s supporters eagerly anticipate the team’s next opponent as they prepare to continue their pursuit of AFCON glory.
