The Significance of Kano State in Nigerian Politics, According to Governor Uzodimma

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, emphasized the political significance of Kano State for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a recent statement. According to Uzodimma, Kano is not only important to the APC but to the entire nation of Nigeria, making it an essential state for all concerned parties.

His comments come following a directive by President Bola Tinubu to the APC chapter of Kano to reconcile with the governing party in the state, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).

President Tinubu recently met with a delegation from the Kano State Chapter of the APC, comprising the party’s leadership, including the APC Chairman and former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and the party’s candidate in the March 18 governorship election, Nasir Gawuna. This meeting occurred shortly after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Abba Yusuf of the NNPP as the duly elected governor of the state, resulting in a shift of power from the APC.

Despite the political dynamics, Governor Uzodimma stressed the common goal of governance, stating, “Government is one and no matter the political party you belong to, we are one.”

Furthermore, Uzodimma highlighted his involvement in addressing crucial national issues, particularly his leadership role in the subcommittee on crude oil theft. During his visit to Vice President Kashim Shettima, he conveyed the progress being made in tackling this significant concern and expressed optimism about finding a lasting solution.

Uzodimma’s visit was a part of his role as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, reflecting the ongoing efforts within the APC and the national government to address pressing economic and security challenges.

As Governor Uzodimma continues to engage in these multifaceted responsibilities, his dedication to promoting unity, addressing critical issues, and advancing the interests of the Nigerian people remains steadfast.
