Edo Deputy Governor Stands Firm, Vows Not to be Intimidated Out of Gubernatorial Race

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has emphatically declared that he will not be cowed or coerced out of the gubernatorial race set for September 21. Returning his nomination form for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Shaibu confidently asserted that he possesses the necessary support and capabilities to emerge victorious in the forthcoming election.

The deputy governor voiced concerns about certain elders within the party who, he claims, have succumbed to the influence of the highest bidders. Undeterred, Shaibu expressed optimism in the unwavering support of youths and select elders, firmly believing that they will help secure the party’s nomination for him.

In a resolute tone, he stated, “By the grace of God, our support is organic, it is not procured. I am not an aspirant that is being pushed; I am not an aspirant that is cut off from the people. Edo people, the voters know me, they touch me, they feel me. We have already dealt with the issue of godfatherism but it is rearing its ugly head again.”

Shaibu conveyed satisfaction in the governor’s stance, affirming, “I am happy that the governor had told us that even if he tries to impose somebody on us as the new godfather, that we should deal with him.”

With unwavering determination, he concluded, “We are standing on the mandate of the people. My support is organic and with Shaibu, PDP will retain its seat in Edo State.”
