Nigeria has qualified for the 2023 Fédération Internationale de Volleyball Girls’ U-19 World Championship, which will take place in Croatia and Hungary from August 1 to 11, 2023. The FIVB, in a statement signed by its project manager, Yiting Cao, congratulated Nigeria on this achievement. The statement also advised Nigeria to confirm its participation by completing the attached Entry Form and returning it by February 3.
In response to this development, Musa Nimrod, the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, praised the FIVB’s decision to admit three African nations into the World Championship. He emphasized that the championship will provide a significant opportunity for the young players, who are currently in excellent form. Nimrod noted that Cameroon and Egypt secured the first and second positions, respectively, at the 2022 CAVB Volleyball Girls’ U-19 African Championship held in Abuja, where they earned their spots in the World Championship.
He further stated that the slot granted to Nigeria by the FIVB allows the country to showcase its talents on an international stage in Croatia and Hungary. Additionally, he highlighted that this event presents female players with the chance to be scouted by foreign teams, enhancing their prospects for future opportunities.
