Plateau State Governor Eases Curfew in Mangu After Recent Violence

After a wave of violence in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has taken steps to ease the 24-hour curfew previously placed on the region. The director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Mr. Gyang Bere, announced in a statement on Friday in Jos that the curfew will now be in effect from 8 am to 4 pm daily until further notice.

The decision to relax the curfew comes in response to improved security conditions in the area. Governor Mutfwang attributed this improvement to strategic discussions with religious and community leaders regarding the security crisis. He expressed gratitude for their collaboration.

“Following remarkable improvement in the security situation and after due consultation with the State Security Council, the curfew has been relaxed. I hereby urge residents of Mangu to strictly observe the curfew and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. We encourage the security personnel to enforce the curfew to avoid breakdown of law and order,” Mutfwang stated.

Acknowledging the cooperation of Mangu residents thus far, the governor called for continued collaboration and support for the security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and security in Plateau State.
