AFCON 2023 Central Bank delay Super Eagles bonuses allowances

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) faces a setback as they await the release of funds for the payment of Super Eagles’ bonuses and allowances during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Despite the Federal Government’s approval prior to the tournament, the NFF is yet to receive the allocated funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). As reported by SCORENigeria, the delay has left the players in anticipation, with each player entitled to a $5,000 bonus for a victory and a camp allowance of $200 per player daily. Additionally, the players are expecting $12,500 each for their two wins and a draw from the group stage. This delay comes at a crucial time as the Super Eagles are gearing up to face familiar rivals, Cameroon, in the Round of 16 match at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan. The unresolved financial matters add an unwelcome distraction as the team prepares for this significant encounter.
