Benue State: Nigeria Police Force Screens Over 19,000 Applicants in Recruitment Drive

The Nigeria Police Force has completed the screening of 19,258 out of 25,346 shortlisted applicants from Benue State, revealed ASP Dominic Iornumbe, the head of the police recruitment team. This update came during a recent visit to Governor Hyacinth Alia at the Government House in Makurdi.

Arriving in Benue on January 8, 2024, the recruitment team finalized the documentation and uploading of the screened applicants. ASP Dominic Iornumbe emphasized the eagerness of the police and the Police Service Commission to enlist a significant number of individuals from the state, contingent upon improvements at the police training school located in Annune.

Notably, there is a desire for the governor to promptly enhance the facilities at the training college in Annune, with the aim of increasing the potential for training more Benue youths who have applied for the exercise.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, in addressing the police recruitment team, expressed concern over the high levels of youth unemployment in the state. He highlighted the police recruitment exercise as a pivotal opportunity for a substantial number of youths to transition away from unemployment and contribute positively to society. Furthermore, he commended the Federal Government for establishing and designating the Police Training School in Wanune, Tarka Local Government Area, as a primary training center for Benue and neighboring states.
