The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Musa Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Yobe East Senatorial by-election. Mustapha, who is related to Senator Ibrahim Geidam, will fill the seat vacated by his son-in-law following his ministerial nomination.

According to Ibrahim Jajere, the INEC returning officer for the election, the results were as follows: Umar Kalli of ADC party scored 452 votes, Musa Mustapha of APC scored 68,778 votes, Hussaini Auwalu of APGA scored 412 votes, Muhammed Jawa of NNPP scored 251, and Kolomi Ali of PDP scored 18,878 votes. Jajere officially declared Musa Mustapha of APC as the winner.

Mustapha expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to earnestly work for the development of the zone and the entire state. He also thanked INEC officials, security agencies, and journalists for their commitment, as well as Governor Mai Mala Buni and the APC members for their unwavering support.

However, the PDP agent, Bashir Sadiq, criticized the election, citing widespread voter bribery. On the other hand, Victor Kalu, the team leader of the Coalition of INEC Accredited Observer Group, praised the election as transparent, credible, and fair.

Overall, the APC candidate’s victory in the Yobe East Senatorial by-election marks a significant political development, and his commitment to bringing development to the region will be closely watched.
