Edo PDP Cancels Etsako Delegates’ Election Due to Abduction of Electoral Officers

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has made the decision to cancel the Etsako Central ward delegates’ election following the reported abduction of nine electoral officers. The state PDP chairman, Mr. Tony Aziegbemi, announced this development during a press briefing in Benin on Monday. The cancellation was approved by the Governor Peter Mbah-led delegates congress committee, although it will not affect the upcoming February 22 PDP governorship primaries.

Aziegbemi emphasized that while the cancellation will not impact the primary election significantly, as the number of delegates in Etsako Central accounted for only 31 out of a total of 594 delegates in the state, the party values the lives of those who have been kidnapped and is hoping for their safe return. He encouraged aggrieved governorship aspirants to seek redress from the appeal panel and urged them to be cautious in their criticism of the party to prevent damage to its image.
