Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has attributed the security challenges in the North-West region of the country to poverty and unemployment, stressing that good governance is crucial in addressing these issues. Speaking in Kaduna while receiving members of the Kaduna State Elders Forum, the governor emphasized the importance of non-kinetic solutions to the security challenges.
Governor Sani highlighted the need to tackle the alarming rate of out-of-school children, linking it to the overall security of the state and the region. He also announced the support of the Defence Headquarters in setting up two Forward Operation Bases (FOBs) in Kaduna, with the aim of intensifying military actions against banditry and kidnapping. Additionally, he mentioned the upcoming establishment of the Security Trust Fund in 2024.
The governor’s recognition of the root causes of banditry and his emphasis on good governance as a solution reflect a proactive approach to addressing the pressing security issues in the region.
