Nigerian Official Alleges INEC’s Role in National Hardship

Kenneth Okonkwo, a spokesperson for the Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign Council, declared that Nigerians did not mandate the current level of hardship in the country. He accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of orchestrating the hardship, attributing it to a “technical glitch” created by corrupt officials within the electoral body.

INEC faced criticism after it cited a “technical glitch” as the reason for its failure to transmit election results to its online portal during the last presidential election. Despite assurances of real-time online result transmission, the electoral body’s inability to fulfill its promise led to widespread doubt regarding the credibility of the final election results.

Following a Supreme Court ruling affirming INEC’s authority to determine result transmission methods, Okonkwo took to social media to condemn corrupt INEC officials. He expressed frustration, praying for divine retribution upon those responsible for rigging elections and subjecting Nigerians to increased suffering, emphasizing that the populace did not vote for such hardship.

In a post on his social media handle, Okonkwo stated, “Nigerians did not vote for this level of hardship. This hardship is technically glitched on us by INEC. O’ God multiply hardship and sufferings on INEC officials that have ever rigged elections in Nigeria. They are thieves that have enthroned fellow thieves to inflict pains on us.”
