Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang Dismisses Heads of Tertiary Institutions

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau state has taken action by dismissing the heads of several tertiary institutions in the state. A statement released by Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the State Government, confirmed this decision on Tuesday in Jos.

The heads of the affected institutions include those of Plateau University in Bokkos, Plateau Polytechnic in Barkin-Ladi, Colleges of Health Technology in Zawan and Pankshin, as well as the College of Education in Gindri.

“The dissolution and removal is with immediate effect,” stated Mr. Jatau, also disclosing that the governor has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of Plateau University.

Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the dismissed heads of the institutions for their service to the state and instructed them to hand over to the most senior officials in their respective institutions. Additionally, all recruitments conducted by the tertiary institutions between October 2022 and early 2023 have been cancelled. The governor has directed the advertisement of an all-inclusive recruitment for all tertiary institutions.

This move signifies a significant change in the leadership of these institutions and hints at the government’s plans for restructuring and possibly improving the education sector in Plateau state.
