Benue APC Crisis: Party Secretary Alleges Deception in Agada’s Suspension

The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ehaje Ward 1, Sunday Innocent, has denied involvement in the suspension of Augustine Agada, the Benue State party chairman. Innocent claims he was deceived into signing the suspension letter during a visit to the government house in Makurdi.
In a video broadcast, Innocent revealed that he was lured to the government house under false pretenses of collecting palliatives for his ward. He expressed shock when party leaders announced Agada’s suspension, alleging coercion and deceit. Innocent implicated several individuals, including government officials, in the deceptive scheme, stating that they were promised monetary incentives without being informed of the document’s true purpose.
Additionally, Innocent disclosed that he has submitted a sum of ₦400,000 to the Commissioner of Police at the Force Headquarters in Makurdi and filed a petition against those involved in the incident.
In response, Sunny Joshua Ocheme, one of the accused individuals, denied any involvement in the alleged deception, stating that he does not know Innocent personally and encountered him for the first time at the government house in Makurdi.
The unfolding saga within the Benue APC sheds light on the internal conflicts and alleged manipulations within the party, raising questions about transparency and integrity.
These revelations add another layer of complexity to the political landscape in Benue State, as the APC continues to grapple with internal strife amid preparations for future elections.
